Hotwire Rental Car Driving Record Requirements
You may be wondering how good a driving record you need to rent a Hotwire discount rental car. How many tickets you can have, etc.
The companies Hotwire uses for its lowest rental car rates—Alamo, Avis, Budget, Enterprise, Eurocar (international), Hertz, and National—want you to have a reasonably good driving record, but it doesn't have to be perfect.
Fundamental driving record requirements
You must have a valid license that is not currently suspended, expired, revoked, cancelled or surrendered. You must never have been in possession of a stolen vehicle or used a vehicle in a crime. Other driver requirements may change at any time, but these will not.
You must be 25 or older to book a Hotwire.com Hot Rate. You must be 21 or older to book a Hotwire regular rate.
You may have to show that you hold a roundtrip air ticket in order to use a debit card.
During the last 36 months

During the last 36 months, the driver has not
- had one or more convictions for speeding or reckless driving.
- had one or more convictions for driving under the influence (DUI), driving while intoxicated (DWI) or driving while alcohol impaired (DWAI).
- failed to report or left the scene of an accident.
- had one or more convictions for speeding or reckless driving.
During the last 24 months

During the last 24 months, the driver has not
- had three or more convictions for moving violations (excluding seat belt violations) but including speeding.
- had three or more convictions for moving violations (excluding seat belt violations) but including speeding.
