Outside of LA's rather long rush hours, Santa Barbara is just some 90 minutes from LAX and not much longer if you take the most scenic route along Highway 1 through Malibu and Zuma Beach. My upcoming trip will not have enough time in Cali to make that happen, but I'll have to add it to list of things to do on future trips. Good to hear that fire damage is minimal.
