Once you give permission for priceline.com to bill your credit card, your discount reservation becomes nonrefundable and cannot be changed, even by paying a penalty. That's the trade off for the rock-bottom price.

On the Priceline site, initial information pages may not be encrypted for security, but the credit card ones are.

  • AIR:  Make your Priceline.com Air bid.

    The name you give must match the name on the government-issued photo identification you will need to present to airport security.

Suggestions:

  • Be sure to write down the transaction number you are given when you submit your request.

  • Print out a copy of your confirmation and receipt and take these with you on your trip.

  • Call your airline, car rental company, or hotel to confirm that your reservation is in order. Wait about an hour after booking.

    For flights, call again—or check the airline's website—prior to going to the airport to make sure that there have been no time changes. Verify current suggested check in time—including the latest time you can be at the departure gate—in order to make sure your seat is not given to another passenger. Also, be sure to bring your government-issued photo identification. Call your airline if you are not sure of what you should bring.

  • You may contact your airline, accommodation, or car rental company to verify special requests.

    We especially encourage you to call ahead to your hotel and confirm that you are booked in a nonsmoking or smoking room. You are much more likely to get what you want if you do not wait until check in.
