Re-bidding on Priceline Airfares

Increasing your savings

If your flight bid is not accepted on Priceline.com, here are some options for your next move:
  • On Priceline, you cannot immediately submit a higher bid for the same itinerary. However, if you change any of the options (such as dates, airports, etc), you CAN rebid right away. Provided you change a particular of the itinerary, you can also submit a higher bid, depending on how much you want to travel.

Because you can usually include both your first choice and second choice airports in your second bid, you may end up getting your first choice after all.

  • You don't have to give up if your second bid is rejected. You should still be within the Hotwire.com deadline, so you can go back and grab its price, if it is good.

If you have missed the Hotwire.com deadline, you can change your itinerary (such as dates or airports), and submit your request right away. However, if you want the identical itinerary, Hotwire tells you how long you have to wait before reentering your request.

  • If you have plenty of time before you travel, you can wait 24 hours, and re-bid on the identical itinerary on Priceline.com. (Remember to recheck the discount travel sites and Hotwire at that time to keep from overbidding on Priceline.)

  • Priceline offers you fixed price alternatives (where you do not bid), which because of its buying power can be attractive.

  • In addition, you can try to modify your itinerary to try to get a good price by using a site like
